Where - We meet at LJ Hooker Real Estate Building, Corner of Eighth Avenue and Cameron Rd, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
When - Monthly meetings are held at 7:00pm, on the first Tuesday of every month (except January)
Cost - Door charge of $2 goes to LJ Hookers for the use of their premises.
Why - 'Cause we love Linux
6th October 7pm-9pm
There is always more with Linux
With the up and coming release of Windows7, our presenters will be showcasing three of the top Linux Desktop Environments. Our audience will see first hand how Linux has options that far supersede much of what Windows has to offer, while still providing some of the latest and greatest software packages and security options available today
Gnome (Ubuntu) - presented by Tim Uckin
KDE 4.3.1-2 full (DanumLinux Canteras 3c_64) - presented by Mike Pav
Xfce/IceWM (AntiX M8.2) - presented by Mike Pav
In addition to our monthly meetings, we host a Linux Open Day on the last Sunday of every even numbered month (except December), starting at 9am and finishing at 3pm at the Arts and Crafts Centre, Elizabeth Street, Tauranga (next to the roundabout at the waterfront end). There is a $2 door cover charge to supplement the use of the building. This is where the rubber meets the road, and where Windows is not welcome. Bring your system in for a tune up, install Linux, hack at and improve your existing Linux system or whatever takes your fancy. All care, no responsibility. No registration necessary.
Our thanks go to our sponsors;
Katikati Computers for funding this site,
LJ Hookers Real Estate for providing the premises for our monthly meetings and
Netsmart for providing Wireless Broadband services.
This site is still in development and not all features are fully functional yet as the site was "rushed to air" before all issues could be resolved. Please give us time as all work is done on a voluntary basis.
